Suburban Auto Seat is the Official Seat Supplier for the New NYC Ferry Boats

LODI, N.J., April 28, 2017 — Suburban Auto Seat Co., Inc., dba Suburban Seating & Safety chosen to supply seats for all 20 of the brand new NYC Ferry boats by Hornblower.

After careful consideration, the Hornblower team decided on the Gemini Seat which is an ultra-lightweight passenger transit seat engineered for maximum seating capacity, safety and longevity. The Gemini seats are constructed with lightweight plastic which meets flame, smoke, and toxicity requirements and gives ferry builders more passenger load capacity and seating options. The Gemini’s space-saving design is also ergonomically efficient while providing more hip-to-knee room, added leg room, and ease of entering and departing.

The NYC Ferry service is estimated to provide 4.6 million trips per year across six routes. The citywide ferry will bring much needed, convenient transport to currently under-served communities all for the price of a Metro Card fare of $2.75. Each boat is 85 feet long, offering passengers more space than traditional ferries have. The Boats are equipped with concession stands, charging stations, & free Wi-Fi and have a capacity for 149 passengers with space for bikes, strollers and wheelchairs.

The NYC Ferry service is set to launch Monday, May 1, 2017.
